Saturday, 6 December 2014

A man was strangulated to death by unidentified miscreants in Charghat Upazila Rajshahi district on Friday. The dead is Mantu Sheikh, 45, son of Ajmat Ali, a resident of Bodarpara Fatepur village. Local people found his body hanging from a tree in a mango orchard at Bodarpara Fatepur village and informed police. Police recovered the body and sent it to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for autopsy on Friday afternoon. Nasima Begum, wife of the deceased, said Mantu had remained missing since he went out of the house at about 12:00am on Thursday and locals spotted his body hanging from tree in the mango orchard on Friday. Nasima added Mantu and his brothers had long been at loggerheads over the ownership of a piece of land. She alleged that Mantu was strangulated to death and the body was kept hanging with the tree. The officer-in-charge of Charghat Police Station said that Mantu might have been killed over a land-related dispute, according to a news agency.
