Man to die for killing ex-wife in Chandpur

CHANDPUR, May 26 (BSS): A man was awarded death sentence by a court here on Sunday for killing his ex-wife in Hajiganj upazila of the district.
District Additional and Sessions Judge Sahedul Karim handed down the verdict to Md Hazrot Ali, hailed from Kirtonkhola village in the upazila. The court also fined Hazrot Ali Tk 0.1 million (one lakh).
According to the prosecution, in 2013 Hazrot Ali married Mitu Akter and divorced her in 2016 over family feud. Though Mitu and Hazrot were divorced they had communication. They used to talk through mobile phone with each other.
At night on July 23 in 2017, Hazrot called Mitu out of her house through mobile phone and killed her at Chandpur village.
On information, police recovered her throat-split body. Following the murder Mitu's mother filed a case accusing Hazrot Ali with Hajiganj Thana.
On July 18 in 2018 police pressed the charge sheet.
