Man to die for killing wife over dowry

JOYPURHAT, Sept 17 (UNB): A court here on Tuesday convicted a man and sentenced him to death for killing his wife for dowry in 1999.
The condemned convict was identified as Mokarram Hossain, son of Afzal Hossain, a resident of Sotahar-Dharki village in Sadar upazila.
According to the prosecution, Mokarram strangulated his wife Rulia Begum to death following a feud over dowry on April 28, 1999.
Victim's uncle Enamul Haque filed a case with Sadar Police Station.
Later, police arrested Mokarram. After examining the records and witnesses, Judge Mizanur Rahman of the District and Sessions Judge's Court handed down the verdict.
