Man to die for killing wife, son in Netrakona

A court in Netrakona sentenced a man on Wednesday to death for killing his wife and son in 2003. The convict is Hashem, 35, son of late Iman Ali of Satia village in the sadar upazila. According to the prosecution, Hashem picked up a quarrel with his wife Aysha Khatun over family feud on November 6, 2003. At one stage he killed his wife and 11-month old son Tariqur and dumped their bodies in a nearby forest. Police recovered the bodies on November 9, 2003. Rabeya Khatun, sister of Ayesha, filed a murder case against Hashem with Sadar Police Station on that day. Police submitted chargesheet in the case accusing Hashem on January 7, 2004. After examining the records and nine witnesses, Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdul Hamid handed down the verdict, according to UNB.
