Man to walk gallows for killing his child

A court in Netrokona on Tuesday convicted and sentenced a man to death for killing his minor child over trifling matter at Minakikanna village in Durgapur upazila of the district in 2008. The convict was identified as Abu Hanif, 37, son of Moslem Uddin of the village. According to the prosecution, Ayesha Khatun, wife of Abu Hanif, left Hanif’s house over family feud in July, 2008.  On July 15, 2008, Sharif alais Shakib, son of youngest son of Hanif-Ayesha couple urged to Hanif to bring back his mother and started crying to fulfill his demand. At one stage, Hanif hit Shakib with a local sharp weapon, leaving him dead on the spot. Ayesha, mother of the deceased, filed a case in this connection and police arrested Hanif on the day of the filing of the case. Later, police submitted charge sheet against Hanif in the case on September 11, 2008. After examining the eight witnesses and all the evidences, Additional Sessions Judge Abdul Hamid handed down the verdict, aqccording to a news agency.
