Man tries to commit suicide after killing son in Pabna

PABNA, Dec 7: A father killed his son and later, he attempted to commit suicide over a family feud under Atghoria Upazila in Pabna Saturday evening.
The victim was identified as Shohag-2, son of Mohidul Islam of village Dholeshwar in Atghoria Upazila of the district.
Police and locals said Mohidul picked up a quarrel with his wife Sultana Khatun with her two-year old son on her lap.
At one stage, Mohidul chopped his son to death. He also chopped his sister in law Tuli Khatun when she attempted to save the child.  
Thereafter, Mohidul tried to commit suicide by chopping his own neck. Locals rushed to the spot and rescued Mohidul and Tuli Khatun in critical condition.
They were admitted to Pabna Medical College Hospital. Mohidul was later shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital on Saturday night.
Officer-in-charge of Atghoria police station Sheikh Lalin Alamgir confirmed the incident saying Mohidul was suffering from mental disorder.     motiarfe@gmail.com
