Managers urged to develop efficiency

The branch managers of Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited (SJIBL) have been urged to develop their efficiency and ensure best services to the clients.
SJIBL Chairman Md Towhidur Rahman made the appeal while speaking as the chief guest at the managers' conference-2010 of the bank at a local hotel in Cox's Bazar Friday, said a press release.
Managing Director of the bank Muhammad Ali presided over the inaugural function.
Also present on the occasion were SJIBL Founder Chairman Sajjatuz Jumma, Immediate Past Chairman Akkasuddin Mollah, Vice Chairmen Mohiuddin Ahmed and Md Sanaullah Shahid, directors Anwer Hossain Khan, Mohammed Solaiman, Syed Nurul Arefeen, Mohammad Hasan, Mohammad Farooq, Abdul Halim, Tofazzal Hossain, Mohammed Younus, Md Abdul Barek, alternate directors Rukunddin Khan and Md Masud, deputy managing directors Md Mukhter Hossain and Md Abdul Jabber Chowdhury.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Towhidur told the employees to contribute to the national economy by creating new entrepreneurs as well as supporting other business. Citing the country's existing defaulting culture, he urged the staff to be more careful in selecting borrowers.
Mr Ali emphasised on the accelerated growth and sustainable development of the bank with concurrent consolidation thereof. He gave necessary guidelines to the officials and branch managers towards strengthening the financial base of the bank. He also advised the participants to be more sincere and dynamic to increase overall business including import and export of the bank.
The meeting evaluated the performance of last year and adopted necessary strategy and action plan to achieve the target for the current year.
Divisional heads of head office, managers of 51 branches and head of offshore and SME units took part in discussion.
