FE REPORT | Thursday, 9 May 2024

Greenery of Dhaka city will soon meet international standards, said Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Wednesday.
The greenery of Dhaka city will be revived through completing ongoing 39.06 kilometre long (combined) plantation (forestation) projects on both sides of Syampur, Jirani, Manda and Kalunagar canals in Dhaka, he said.
He made the comments while inaugurating reclamation and beautification works of Manda canal at Shapla Bridge, Mugda area in the capital.

The plantation of the area will be turned into a beautiful area, he stated.
He said that they were expecting to revive the greenery of Dhaka similar to international standard after completing plantations on both sides of Syampur, Jirani, Manda and Kalunagar canals in Dhaka.
He hoped to see a visible improvement of beautification of canals by June next year.
The DSCC has taken the plantation and beautification projects of the canals involving the cost of over Tk 8.98 billion.
Of the amount Tk 3.97 billion will be spent for reclamation and beautification of 8.7 kilometre long Manda Canal.
