Mandatory ins system for RMG workers on cards: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday said her government is actively considering introducing a mandatory insurance system for the country’s garment workers. She said this when deputy director general for field operations and partnerships of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Gilbert Fossoun Houngbo raised the issue when he met the Prime Minister at her official residence Ganobhaban. PM's special assistant Mahbubul Hoque Shakil briefed reporters after the meeting. He said the Prime Minister sought cooperation of the ILO and other development partners in creating skilled workforce in the country, according to a news agency.
