Mango growers and traders in Chapainawabganj on Wednesday threatened to enforce a day-long hartal in the district on Sunday if alleged harassment continues in the name of anti-formalin drive. The ultimatum was announced at a press conference organised by the mango traders and farmers at the conference room of Chapainawabganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry at noon. In his written statement, Abdul Wahed, local chamber president, said in the name of anti-formalin drive, harassment and extortion by the law enforcing agencies and mobile court are affecting the mango traders financially. “Though we’ve informed the matter to the administration but we’re yet to get any remedy to this end,” he added. It has been also declared that they will submit a memorandum to the deputy commission on Thursday, according to a news agency.
