KHULNA, May 16 (BSS): With the beginning of Bangla month Joistha, known as 'Modhumash', the seasonal juicy fruits mango and litchi have started arriving in the Khulna markets.

In last Bangla month Baishakh, other seasonal fruits like watermelon, footy and woodapple flooded the markets and brought little relief to the people during the scorching heat and sultry weather in the region.
Many seasonal traders set up makeshift shops at city's different points including Clay road, Boro Bazar, Shantidham intersection, Khalishpur and Daulatpur Bazar, displaying the juicy fruits.

Meanwhile litchis are being sold at Tk 190-200 per 100 in wholesale markets while the price is Tk 210-220 per 100 in retail markets.
Sohag Mia, a fruit trader of city's Clay road area told the news agency that the best quality mango like 'Langra' and 'Himsagor' and litchis will come from the country's northern region including Rajshahi, Iswardi and Chapainawabganj within next two weeks.
He said most of the mangoes and litchis are now coming to Khulna from Satkhira and Jessore districts. Mango and litchi trading will gain momentum after their arrival from the northern region of the country.
