Manjur to be sworn in tomorrow

CHITTAGONG, July 16: Elected mayor of Chittagong City Corporation M Manjur Alam will take oath of office in the capital Sunday, CCC officials said.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will administer the oath taking at conference room of the PM's office at 10.00 am.
After sworn in the CCC mayor is expected to visit the grave of late President Ziaur Rahman, founder of BNP and meet with party chairperson Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan office on the same day.
BNP-backed candidate Manjur defeated his predecessor and Awami League-backed long time mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury by a margin of over 95,500 votes in the June 17 election to run the country's prime port city.
The sworn-in of the ward councilors will be held on the same day at the LGRD minister's conference room at Agargaon in Dhaka at 12.30 pm. LGRD Minister Syed Ashraful Islam will conduct the sworn in of the councilors.
CCC secretary Md Quamruzzaman said the LGRD ministry has asked the councilors to take oath in Dhaka. The ministry earlier decided that councilors' sworn in will be held in Chittagong.
