Leaders of Nagorik Jubo Oikya demanded on Tuesday immediate and unconditional release of Nagorik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna, reports UNB.
The demand was raised at a human-chain in front of the National Press Club. Jubo Oikya central committee member Shahinul Alam presided over a rally after the human chain.
Demanding Manna's immediate release, the speakers said Manna has always been a fighter for democracy and he has no stance beyond democracy, said a press release.
They alleged that Manna was arrested as part of government's conspiracy as he was vocal and critical of government activities.
They also demanded proper treatment of Manna.
Earlier in February, RAB arrested Manna and he was shown arrested in a case filed by SI Sohel Rana of Gulshan police on charge of instigating the Armed Forces.
