Manon emerges champion in MTB Int’l Masters Chess

International Master Manon Reja Neer emerged champion at the MTB International Masters Chess Tournament with 6.5 points from nine games, according to a press release.
The 10-day international tournament, held at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), began on December 14. Titash Club's FIDE Master Saklain Mostafa Sajid was runner-up on tie-break with six points, while India's Bibhur Adak secured third place. Manon received BDT 40,000 as champion, Sajid BDT 30,000, Adak BDT 20,000, and International Master Mohammad Minhaj Uddin BDT 10,000 for fourth place. South Asia's first Grandmaster Niaz Murshed, who is also the Advisor to the IUB Chess Club, was the tournament's host. Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB) was the title sponsor.
President of the Bangladesh Chess Federation Captain Syed Sujauddin Ahmed, Deputy Managing Director of MTB PLC Md. Bakhteyer Hossain, Pro Vice Chancellor of IUB Prof. Daniel W. Lund and Head of DoSA, IUB Atif M Safi were also present on the occasion.
