Maradona, super league in Bangladesh!

Wednesday, 24 December 2014

Though Bangladesh is not a participant of football’s greatest events like World Cup, it hosted soccer’s superpower Argentina and African Super Eagles Nigeria's national team players over 2 years ago. Now Bangladesh is going to stage a mega event in its soil involving top World Cup footballers, including Argentina’s Nionel Messi and leading Brazilian, German and a host of European booters. Celebrity Management Group (CMG), which helped Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) host the Argentina versus Nigeria FIFA Friendly in Dhaka in September, 2011, has tabled a proposal to the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) for organising a franchisee football league involving top world cuppers in Bangladesh next year. Sources at the BFF said Diego Maradona is likely to lead the football franchise like the India Super League held recently. CMG, a Kolkata-based sports event management company, came up with the proposal at the BFF House in Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon. According to the Indian company’s proposal, Maradona will be the chairman of the Franchise Football League, styled after the Indian Super League. However, the proposal is still at budding stage, the sources said. According to the proposal, 8 teams including 7 division and Mymensingh district will participate in the league. Top South American (Latin America) and European clubs will mix with the local clubs. Bhaskar Goswami, executive director of the Indian company, told a private TV channel that they have formally placed their proposal before top BFF officials who took the proposal very seriously. If everything goes according to the plan, the company mulls to bring the proposal into being next year. The 2 parties will again sit on January 5 in this regard, according to a news agency.
