Awami League (AL) Advisory Council Member Suranjit Sengupta Monday urged BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to march towards parliament and election commission instead of staging road march. The AL leader said this at a discussion titled 'Khaleda-Amini's threat of ousting the government and our role' organised by the Bangabandhu Nagarik Sanghati Parishad at the Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU) in the city Monday, reports BSS. Chaired by President of the organisation Talukdar Mohammad Jahangir, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Dhaka City AL General Secretary Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya Bir Bikram, Publicity and Publication Secretary Abdul Haque Sabuj, Deputy Office Secretary Sahidul Islam Milon, President of olama League Elias Hossain Bin Helali and leader of Mohila Awami League Keya Chowdhury. "Government and parliament are not same, parliament can solve all problems, not the government," Suranjit said. The veteran politician urged the opposition to join parliament for strengthening the democratic process. "Let us discuss, how we can make the next polls free and fair through strengthening the election commission," he said. Arguing that BNP is staging road march to foil the trial of war criminals, he said, "the trial would be more expedited the more you try to foil it." He urged the government to compensate investors of the share market and take immediate steps to check fall of the stock market.
