Wednesday, 21 February 2024

Bangladesh women's team pacer Marufa Akter's match-winning spell against India was named the best bowling performance in Women's ODIs in 2023 by ESPNcricinfo, a sports news website, on Tuesday.
According to the website, defending 152 runs, Bangladesh couldn't afford to give India a good start. Marufa ensured that they got the early wicket when she had the dangerous Smriti Mandhana caught behind for 11. Wicketkeeper Nigar took a stunning catch, a real turning point in the game. Then she took Mandhana's opening partner Priya Punia.
Marufa returned to the attack late in the innings and removed Amanjot Kaur with a full delivery. The next ball, Marufa yorked Sneh Rana and sent her leg stump cartwheeling. The crowd at the stadium erupted as Bangladesh closed in on a famous victory. In the space of seven overs India had gone from 91 for 5 to 113 all out, Bangladesh winning by 40 runs.
Marufa claimed 4 for 29 against India at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city on July 26, 2023 to help the country seal a 40-run win. It is their first against India in Women's ODIs.
