Masih doesn\\\'t belong to JP: Ershad

Thursday, 3 July 2014

Opposition Leader Raushan Ershad’s political secretary Golam Masih is not affiliated with the Jatiya Party (JP), Chairman HM Ershad has said. ‘He doesn’t have any relations with my party,’ Ershad told an Iftar programme in the city on Wednesday. Ershad said Masih was a member of his party but he had later resigned. Former JP Presidium member Masih was expelled from the party on October 30 last year over row over Union Bank share. Another top JP leader Kazi Zafar Ahmed was expelled from the party over contesting the January 5 national elections. He had floated a breakaway faction of JP on December 20, 2013. Masih joined the faction as its secretary general but resigned within two months and started working as Raushan Ershad’s political secretary. JP emerged as the second biggest party in the 10th parliamentary polls boycotted by the BNP and its allies. Raushan became the Opposition Leader in Parliament while Ershad was made the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy, according to bdnews24.com.
