Mask mandatory as cases rising

Three people died from Covid-19 cases and 2,087 new virus cases were reported in Bangladesh on Tuesday.
The figures were 2,102 and two respectively on Monday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With the latest daily counts, the total fatalities from Covid-19 reached 29,145 in the country since the virus was detected in the country in March 2020,
Some 13,489 samples were tested during the last 24 hours until 8:0am on Tuesday while 13,184 samples were collected during the period.
However, the Covid-19 test positivity inched up to 15.47 per cent, up from the previous day's 15.20 per cent.
Meanwhile UNB report adds: In the wake of fresh surge in Covid cases in the country, the National Technical Advisory Committee (NTAC) on Covid-19 placed six recommendations to contain its spread.
The Cabinet Division issued a notification on Tuesday requesting all concerned to implement the recommendations of NTAC.
The recommendations include:
1. Requesting media to raise awareness among people for maintaining health guidelines
2. Making use of mask mandatory everywhere, enforcement of 'No mask no service' policy, ensure social distancing and avoid public gatherings.
3. Ensure use of mask and maintain social distance in all religious places including mosques, temples and churches.
4. Asking people to undergo Covid-19 test if they see Covid symptoms including fever, cough and cold.
5. Ensuring mask use at all shopping malls, shops, markets, hotel-restaurants or facing legal action.
6. Imams of mosques to give sermons for maintaining health guidelines and wearing masks to all during Juma prayers.
The Cabinet also asked the authorities concerned to take necessary steps to implement the recommendations.
Globally, the overall number of Covid cases is gradually approaching 550 million amid a rise in new infections in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
According to the latest global data, the total case count mounted to 549,667,293 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,352,025 on Tuesday morning.
The US has recorded 88,910,140 cases so far and 1,041,027 people have died from the virus in the country, the data shows.
In India, as many as 13,562 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in 24 hours, taking the total tally to 43,420,608, according to the data released by the health ministry on Monday.
Besides, 21 deaths were reported due to the pandemic in the country since Saturday morning, bringing the death toll to 525,020.
