Mass-accommodation policy to protect people from natural disasters prioritised

The government Saturday was urged to urgently adopt a mass-accommodation policy alongside distributing relief materials to protect the people of the country's coastal areas from any sort of natural disasters in future.
Speaking at the concluding ceremony of a film exhibition, participants said cyclone Sidr was not the sole cause of their misery. A large number of people lost their lives in different calamities in Bangladesh.
They blamed the industrialised countries for the calamities like the Sidr happen in Bangladesh and other areas in the world as the advanced industrialised countries were mostly responsible for the world climate change.
Correspondents at the Dhaka University working for different national dailies organised the four-day film exhibition at the university's TSC auditorium to help the candidates from the cyclone-hit areas for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination-2008.
DU proctor AK Firoz Ahmed, Registrar Syed Rejaur Rahman and TSC director Alamgir Hossain, among others, spoke at the function.
