Massive RAKUB agri-loan plan for Aman farming

GAIBANDHA, Aug 10: Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) has taken a massive plan to disburse agriculture loan to the farmers of the district for T-Aman paddy cultivation during the current Aman season.
Bank sources said the aim of the loan disbursement is to encourage the growers and help them boost production of high value crops for achieving the country's food security side by side with changing the lots of the growers economically.
The bank has set a target to disburse a total of Tk 780 million (Tk 78 crore) to the farmers of all the seven upazilas in the district through 25 branches of the bank during the current fiscal.
Of the total, about Tk 70 million had already been distributed to the farmers for T-Aman paddy cultivation, till July, 2015, to help cultivate the crop without economical troubles, said an official of the bank. Each of the growers had received loan ranging from 10,000 to 0.1 million (one lakh) from the bank without any complexities and harassments of the officials, he also said.
Deputy General Manager and also zonal manager of RAKUB Rafiqul Islam told the Financial Express that pragmatic measures had been taken to disburse the 100 per cent loan to the farmers here through motivating them by the bank officials at the field level. 100 per cent loan disbursement target was also achieved in last fiscal through distributing Tk 770 million to the farmers of the district, he added.
It may be mentioned here that a total of 1, 19,995 hectares of land were brought under T-Aman paddy cultivation during the current Aman season with the production target of 3,12,146 metric tonnes of rice, said AKM Ruhul Amin, deputy director of department of agriculture extension.
