A man allegedly killed his mother over land at Tarashul village in Chunarughat Upazila in Habiganj district on Tuesday. The victim was identified as Halima Banu, 60, wife of Maharam Ali of Mirashi village. Locals said Halima Banu had a long-standing dispute with her son Shafiq Mia, 32, over a piece of land at Tarashul village. Shafiq used to torture Halima for the land property. In order to escape her son’s torture, Halima fled to the residence of a relative at Rajkona village a few days ago. After returning home on Tuesday, Halima Banu encountered her son Shafiq Mia. Shafiq engaged in an altercation with Halima over the issue. At one stage, he picked dup knife and stabbed Halima, leaving her dead on the spot, according to a news agency.
