Maya slams Khaleda for birthday celebrations on Mourning Day

Sunday, 17 August 2014

Disaster Management Minister Mofazzel Hossain Chowdhury Maya criticised BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia Saturday for celebrating her controversial birthday by cutting cakes on August 15, ignoring the request of people 'from all walks of life' not to do so, reports UNB.
"Her (Khaeda's) such joy is the manifestation of killing Bangabandhu… the so-called birthday is mere a pretext," he said.
Maya was addressing a discussion on the occasion of a painting competition, titled 'The life of Bangabandhu and his works' organised by Sheikh Russell Shishu Sangsad (SRSS) at Dhaka University's (DU) TSC.
Presided over by SRSS president Prof Sultana Shafi, the function was addressed, among others, by Bangladesh Shishu Academy Director Mosharraf Hossain, Dhaka city Awami League (AL) leaders Abdul Huq Sabuj and Sayeedul Islam Milon and SRSS general secretary M Akhtar Hossain.
About BNP's call for movement, Maya, also Dhaka City AL general secretary, said BNP has realised it is not possible for it to force the government to go for parliamentary elections before 2019 through any movement. "So, they're talking about soft line of movement in soft voice, pulling up their tails," he said.
Welcoming BNP's such realisation, Maya said if the movement is soft, the response will be soft too and if the movement goes out of tune, the response will also be harsh.
Over a hundred children from nursery to class IX, split into four categories, participated in the painting competition.
