Mayaudon to replace Hanna
Saturday, 7 June 2014
The European Union High Representative has picked up the deputy head of its Pakistan delegation to replace the head of its Bangladesh mission. Pierre Mayaudon, who has an extensive diplomatic and defence background in the French administration, will replace William Hanna, an Irish diplomat. The new appointment has been announced on the EU’s website. However, it was not clear when the new ambassador would join. Hanna was appointed in Dhaka in September 2010. Mayaudon served as the deputy director within the Ministry of Defence of France, as Ambassador to Vanuatu, and had diplomatic postings in Singapore. The High Representative Catherine Ashton announced his name with other two new head of delegations in Guinea (Conakry) and Malawi. Announcing their names, she said they were ‘excellent’ candidates for the EU head of delegation posts. ‘Their talent and expertise are significant assets for the EU’s external action,’ she remarked, according to bdnews24.com.
