Mazid elected CSE president

Former NBR Chairman Md Abdul Mazid has been elected as the first president of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) after the bourse has been demutualised. “The CSE board of Directors has unanimously elected former NBR chief Abdul Mazid as the Chairman in line with the Demutualisation Act,” CSE’s PR official Sanjida Parvin has said. “CSE’s independent director Abdul Mazid has been unanimously elected chairman,” the port city bourse’s managing director Syed Sajid Hossain said today. In an instant reaction, the new CSE Chairman Abdul Mazid said: “This is a challenge. The stock exchange will be operated now in a new manner according to the Demutualisation Act … will work together with all the stakeholders to maintain investors’ confidence on the market.” A meeting of the CSE Board of Directors on Saturday night elected the new president, according to bdnews24.com.
