MDB launches Shariah-based Islamic banking

Midland Bank Limited (MDB) has started offering Shariah-based Islamic banking from its Gulshan branch's Islami banking window in the city on Thursday, says a statement.
The bank named its Islami banking platform 'Midland Bank Saalam'. Chairperson of the bank Nilufer Zafarullah launched the service at the beginning of the bank's board of directors meeting through video conferencing.
Through the new offering, customers can avail all Shariah banking products through Midland Bank Islami banking window and avail the service from any of its branches including the bank's digital channels.
Chairman of the bank's Shariah Supervisory Council Professor Dr. Muhammad Abul Kalam Azad, council members Dr. Muhammad Nazrul Islam Al-maruf and N K A Mobin and Managing Director and CEO Md. Ahsan uz Zaman were also present.
