RANGPUR, Nov 27 (BSS): The cooperation of media is very important in correcting the previous mistakes of the Highway Police to restore order on the highways and uphold human rights.

He said this at a press briefing held at his conference room in Rangpur zonal office of the Highway Police.
Tariqul Islam said, "There is no alternative to raising awareness about driving dangerous vehicles like motorcycles on the highway. Most of these motorcycle drivers are young people."
"Our teenage boys are dying in most of the accidents in the country while riding motorcycles. When Eid, Puja and other festivals are celebrated, the rate of these accidents increases as such the death rate also increases," he said.
He said, "It is possible to reduce the accident rate by increasing awareness. But it is not possible for the police alone. For this, the cooperation of the people is needed. That is why we work together with civilians."
"The Highway Police have a bad reputation. However, efforts are being made to reduce the bad reputation and protect the highways to restore law and order. We want to move forward with the dream of the changed times," he said.
To ensure safe highways, Tariqul Islam sought the full cooperation of journalists to correct all previous mistakes and move on the right path.
