Media\\\'s role to bring eligible couples under FP methods emphasised

GAIBANDHA, Jun 25 (BSS): Speakers at a function today said media men could play significant role in motivating the eligible couples to bring them under permanent and long-term methods through publishing positive reports in their respective media.
"Media men should come forward with the positive attitude in writing down different stories regarding family planning and maternal and child health to help the department succeed their overall activities", they said.
They made the comments while addressing a daylong workshop on writing about family planning at a hall room of a restaurant in Rangpur town on Wednesday.
Information, Education and Monitoring Unit, Directorate General of Family Planning arranged the workshop in cooperation with USAID and Engender Health.
An inaugural function was also held with deputy director of Family Planning Department (FPD), Rangpur district, Dr. Shafiqul Haque in the chair while deputy director of FPD, Dinajpur district, Dr. Didarul Islam made his welcome speech.
Deputy director of FPD, Gaibandha district Dr. Ferdous Hossain Manju and deputy director of FPD, Lalmonirhat Dr. Abdul Hamid, also addressed the ceremony, among others.
The speakers in their speeches sought cooperation of all the media men to gear up the family planning activities to the common people at grass root level in large scale to check the country's population. Senior correspondent of BD News24.com Nurul Islam Hasib, senior communications specialist of USAID Mahin Rashid, programme officer of Maher Hashi project Bashir Ahmed and team leader of the project Mohammad Azmal Hossain conducted the sessions as facilitators.
