Admission seekers announced on Tuesday that they will continue their ongoing demonstration even during Eid, demanding cancellation of the results of the admission tests for MBBS and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), amid widespread allegations that the question papers were leaked the night before the exams, reports UNB
They staged a demonstration demanding cancellation of the results of the admission tests of MBBS and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) claiming that question papers of the tests were leaked.
"We'll continue our peaceful movement even on Eid holidays. We'll stage peaceful gathering at Shaheed Minar at 10am every day until September 26 unless our demand is fulfilled," Mohaiminul Islam Neon, one of the organisers of the demonstration announced at a sit-in in the city's Shahbagh area.
If the demand is not fulfilled by September 26, they will go for tougher programmes, including laying siege to the Health Ministry, he said.
Earlier in the morning, the admission seekers staged a sit-in at Shaheed Minar after failing to stage demonstrations in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the face of obstruction from police.
At about 12:30 pm, the demonstrators brought out a procession from Shaheed Minar that marched towards Shahbagh. They staged a sit-in on the road in front of Central Public Library until 3:00 pm.
After the sit-in programme, a four-member team of the demonstrators went to submit a memorandum to the Health Minister in this regard. The personal assistant to the minister received the memorandum, a member of the team confirmed to the news agency.
They chanted various slogans demanding immediate cancellation of the results of the admission tests of MBBS and BDS.
