Medical college in Sunamganj
Monday, 24 February 2014
Bangladesh needs thousands of physicians to provide healthcare services to its citizens. Besides, for earning foreign currency, the country needs skilled professionals who can be employed overseas. The country needs professional and technical work forces in order to implement various development programmes inside the country. We all speak of imparting professional and technical education but little progress has been made so far.
Sunamganj is the new district of Sylhet Division but it has not much advanced in education. It is far away from the divisional city, Sylhet, where there is a public medical college. Sunamganj can be a good place for setting up a full-fledged medical college. No doubt, it will enhance health service facilities for local people.
Thousands of students at higher secondary level are interested to study medical science. Indeed, expansion of general higher education increases the number of educated unemployed population. A medical college could be set up on the Sunamganj Government Hospital premise. We urge the government to set up a medical college in Sunamganj soon.
