Medicine seller killed in Joypurhat

The owner of a drugstore was hacked to death by some miscreants at Sabujnagar in Joypurhat district town on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Tariqul Islam, son of Abdul Kuddus of Khanjanpur area on the outskirts of the district town. Quoting family members, police said Tariqul had a medicine shop near a local clinic in Amtoli area in the town. Tariqul did not return home from his shop on Friday night though he had left around 10pm. On Saturday morning, local people spotted the body of Tariqul in the area and informed police. Police recovered the body and sent it to sadar hospital morgue for an autopsy. Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Joypurhat Police Station, said miscreants might have attacked Tariqul on his way home and hacked him to death. Later they left the body there. However, the motive behind the killing could not be known immediately. Police are investigating the incident, said the OC, according to a news agency.
