Meeting discusses jt enclave survey

Bangladesh and India will start exchanging border enclaves from midnight of July 31. With the date to begin the much-awaited exchange of enclaves by the two neighbouring countries only 28 days away, a meeting for finalising a joint survey of the 162 enclaves was held between the authorities of both countries at Burimari land port on Thursday afternoon. Deputy Commissioner of Kurigram district ABM Azad led the 15-member Bangladesh delegation at the meeting while the 15-member Indian delegation was headed by Kooch Behar district’s magistrate P Ulganathan. Lalmonirhat deputy commissioner Habibur Rahman, who is also part of the Bangladesh delegation, told reporters that both sides discussed various issues relating to the enclaves during the meeting. With beginning of the exchange of border enclaves, the Land Boundary Agreement between Bangladesh and India will be implemented with effect from July 31, according to a news agency.
