Awami League (AL) acting general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam said Sunday that recent meeting of Khaleda Zia with Khondoker Delwar Hossain and Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid inside the makeshift jail was part of conspiracy to foil next elections due in December, reports UNB. brHe said a string of conspiracy was on to foil the elections, and signs were visible that next parliament voting might not take place in line with the roadmap. brHe said Thursday's meeting was a complete breach of law. brAsked to explain the conspiracy stuffs, Ashraful said death of a man in cylinder explosion after arson attack by Chhatra Dol and recent chaos in garment sector were two examples that there were elements, which want to disrupt the election.brTime is short now to explain in details but these events are planned in an attempt to foil the elections, he told journalists after a two-hour meeting of the party's central working committee in the party's Dhanmondi office. brThe working committee sat in the meeting to discuss issues tied to Sept 4 talks with the Chief Adviser (CA) and his colleagues. The meeting was adjourned until 11.00 am Monday. brAbout the four-party coalition's statement that criticism to the bail order for Tarique Rahman stands as contempt of the court, Ashraful said there are scores of examples of reacting to court verdict. brIn Bangladesh people many times even launched movement in protest against court verdict, he said.brExpanding his statement, the AL leader repeated his position that Tarique infamously earned the title of champion of corruption, and if he is released from jail, the government has no moral right to keep other corrupts behind the bars. brHe did not stop there but said, I demand immediate release of all other political prisoners.brActing AL president Zillur Rahman, meanwhile, said that the BNP-Jamaat nexus had taken the role of stooge to satisfy the caretaker government to ensure release of the BNP chairperson and her son Tarique.brAbout the allegation of contempt of court, Zillur, also emerging from the working committee meeting, said, The people will determine the right or wrong.
