Meeting stresses construction of bypass road

NILPHAMARI, Jun 02: Speakers at a discussion meeting urged the government to construct a bypass road of Nilphamari municipality to mitigate traffic congestion and avoid frequent road accident of the district.
They said the Nilphamari Municipality comprise only one main road stretching a length 6.0 km from north to south and all the vehicles plying this road that include inter-district, inter-city buses, trucks , local vehicles and so on. Buses and trucks bound for Dhaka Chattogram and back from those places create congestion along with the local vehicles.
Held in the conference room of Nilphamari municipality and presided over by mayor Dewan Kamal Ahmed on Friday. The meeting was attended by a cross section people including representative of different NGOs, municipality commissioners, elite and others.
Dr Majibul Hasan Shaheen, president of Swadhinata Chikitsak council of Nilphamari unit said intercity buses and trucks bound for different upazilas of Nilphamari and Panchagarh districts use the lone road of the municipality. So a bypass road can only solve the problem.
