Thursday, 23 October 2014

A businessman was abducted from his Dhaka office on Wednesday afternoon by men posing as members of the Detective Branch (DB) of police. The victim is Abdullah Al Mamun, 32, who owns a travel agency. On Thursday, Mamoon’s relatives alleged that he was taken away from his home in the city’s Bijoynagar around 1:30pm on Wednesday by a group of 7/8 men posing as detectives. They picked him up in a black microbus, Mamoon’s brother Emdadul Haque Khokon and ‘Nasir’, a friend of Haque, alleged. However, DB police denied detaining anyone by that name from that area on Wednesday. When contacted, the DB claimed that they were not aware of any such arrest or detention. Emdadul Haque lodged a complaint with Paltan Police Station in this connection, according to bdnews24.com.
