Menace of beggars in Ramna Park
Tuesday, 30 September 2014
Ramna Park is possibly the only 'lung' of the city where the city dwellers can have a fresh breath under the shadows of trees.
A decade ago or more, Ramna Park was almost abandoned. People could not find it a safe place for loitering. It was a haven for hijackers and snatchers, and also a happy hunting ground for prostitutes. The benches were dirty too.
Since the beginning of the current century, there has been a big change of environment in the Ramna Park. Much care has been given to it. It is now much clean and safe.
With the advent of the daylight, the joggers assemble there, walk, run, and do exercise. Men and women of all ages, though the middle aged and elderly constitute more, are seen busy running or walking fast.
Around noon and during the afternoon, it becomes a rendezvous of young lovers. Second batch of joggers is again seen in the afternoon and evening. People merrily move around and their faces say, even late in the evening they do not suffer from any kind of insecurity.
Very recently the park visitors and users are much disturbed by beggars. We hope the authorities will take measures to free Ramna Park from the menace of beggars.
