Meningitis vax a must for BD umrah pilgrims

Umrah visa holders have been asked to take meningitis vaccine at least 10 days before their travel to Saudi Arabia.
The passengers aged one year are not required to take the vaccine and if the vaccine has been taken within the last three years, there is no need for a repeat dose.
The directive will come into effect from February 10, 2025, according to a notification issued on Monday by Group Captain M Kamrul Islam, executive director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
"According to the notification issued by the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), it is mandatory for all Umrah pilgrims travelling from Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia (whether on Umrah visa or other visas for performing Umrah) and travellers on visit visas to receive the meningitis vaccine," it also reads.
A notification from the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of Saudi Arabia said that all the airlines operating in the airports have to follow the health guidelines.
