Menon asks Parjatan to probe St Martin’s tragedy

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon on Thursday ordered an investigation to find any negligence of the authority in the St Martin’s tragedy where four students drowned and two others were missing. The minister directed Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation to see if there was any laxity in safety measures at St Martin’s sea beach during the incident, public relations officer of the ministry Shafayeet Hossain told reporters. Expressing his shock at the tragedy, the minister said Cox’s Bazar Beach Management Committee takes cautionary measures to prevent such accidents. Menon also asked the corporation to examine whether any more precaution can be taken considering the situation, according to a news agency.
