Menon promises resumption of Rajshahi-Dhaka flight

RAJSHAHI, Apr 24: Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon promised to restart Rajshahi-Dhaka flight of Bangladesh Biman as early as possible.
The minister made the pledge while visiting Rajshahi Airport on Wednesday afternoon.
Menon further said, there have been shortages of aircraft in the country and process was underway to purchase a number of planes. Rajshahi-Dhaka flight will be launched as soon as those planes are procured, he said.
Addressing the officials and employees of civil aviation authorities in Rajshahi, Menon said, no organisation can survive by incurring loss and when an organisation is closed due to loss, everyone suffer.
The minister said, Biman was not only a service-oriented enterprise but also a commercial organisation that is why everyone should work unitedly to make it a profitable concern.
Rajshahi-Dhaka flight of Biman service was withdrawn decades ago due to continuous losses.
Rashed Khan Menon was accompanied by Politbureau Member of Workers Party and Member of Parliament Fazley Hossain Badsha, Paba Upazila Chairman Ashraful Alam Tota, UNO of Paba Razzakul Islam, Deputy Director of Civil Aviation Authorities Abul Kashem and Manager of Rajshahi Airport Setafur Rahman.
