Mental patient killed by co-patient in Pabna Hospital

PABNA, Mar 8: A mental patient was killed by another patient in Pabna Mental Hospital Saturday morning.
The victim Md. Joynal Abedin, 45, son of Loghu Pramanik, of village Nangtadah of Boraigram Upazila in Natore district was admitted to Pabna Mental Hospital on January, 12, this year.
Police and the hospital sources said the victim was undergoing treatment in Ward No 9 of the hospital. Another patient Md. Ashraful Islam of the same ward killed him hitting with a heavy metal bar in the toilet of the ward at about 9am.
Abdur Razzak, director of the Mental Hospital confirmed the incident.
Officer-in-charge of the Pabna sadar police station Kazi Haniful Islam said police recovered the body on Saturday morning and also picked up the accused Ashraful Islam from the hospital.
