Mental patients need proper treatment

ACCORDING to a report of UNB (Bhola), a mad youth hacked five children to death and injured three other people at Zinnagarh village in Char Fashion upazila Sunday (March 22) when he was unshackled after faith healing.
Police said the youth had been confined to the house of Ojha Maksudur Rahman for treatment of his insanity. He was set free as he behaved normal.
A spot account of the horrendous scene said, 'Bahar, the mad man, ran into the house of Kabiraj Maksud at 11.30am, picked up an axe and started axing the inmates, killing Maksud's two children on the spot.'
Witnesses also said, he then ran amok and hacked the faith-healer's relatives.
Police, shortly after the bloodbath by the mad man, reined him in.
Local sources said Bahar was working in the army. But recently he lost his job due to mental disorder.
The incident is very pathetic! We all need to always beware of such cases. A mental patient should be treated by a specialist, never by a quack- this everybody has to remember.
