Mercantile Bank selects chairman, vice chairmen

Mr Md Abdul Jalil, Mr MS Ahsan and Mr Golam Faruk Ahmed have been selected chairman, first vice chairman and second vice chairman of the Mercantile Bank Limited respectively.
Mr Md Abdul Jalil is one of the sponsor directors of the bank. He is the owner of M/s Jalil Traders and M/s Foyezuddin Cold Storage Limited.
He was born at Chakdev in Naogaon. He obtained BA (Hons) degree in Political Science in 1963 from the Dhaka University and Masters in 1964.
He is the general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League and was the commerce minister during 1996-2001.
Mr MS Ahsan is also a sponsor director of the bank.
He is the managing director of Raima Fashion, an export-oriented apparel industry, proprietor of M/s Friend Traders, RN Corporation and Swadesh Tower, a multi-storeyed commercial complex.
After completion of his masters degree in Social Science Department from Dhaka University he started export-import business.
Mr Golam Faruk Ahmed is also a sponsor director of the bank.
He is the president of M/s Ahmed, a frozen seafood buying house, director of Peoples Insurance Company Limited, vice chairman of Popular Life Insurance Company Limited and adviser of Global Insurance Limited.
