Mercantile Bank's 11th founding anniversary today

The Mercantile Bank Limited (MBL) will observe its 11th founding anniversary today (Wednesday) and will award 10 renowned personalities on this occasion, officials said.
MBL Managing Director and chief executive Dewan Mujibur Rahman said, "We will give awards to Syed Shamsul Haque for Bangla language and literature, Rafiqul Islam for education, Sohrab Hossain for culture, MA Hasan for research based on Liberation War, Mohammad Forashuddin for economics and research on economics, Prof Nurul Islam for medical science, Prof Abul Hussam for science and technology, Major Gen (retd) Amzad Khan Chowdhury for industry and trade , Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury for journalism, Shaikh Siraj for research on agriculture and development and Rani Hamid for sports."
"All of them will be awarded with Tk 100,000, a gold medal and a crest each for their tremendous contribution to their respective fields," he said while reading out a written statement at a press conference at a city hotel Tuesday.
