Mercury rises again in city

The mercury rose again in the city on Sunday despite a moderate rain.
High level of humidity and a lack of wind caused the temperature to go up, said the Met Office.
The maximum temperature recorded in the city was 31.0 degrees Celsius on Sunday, up from 27.6 degrees on Saturday.
A moderate rainfall of 23 mm was recorded between 6:00am and 6:00pm on Sunday in the city. The intensity of rain increased after 2:30pm.
The humidity in the air was 96 per cent in the morning, and it declined to 69 per cent in the evening, said Met Office.
The wind speed was also much lower -- 9.0 to 10 kph, which added to the suffering of the people.
The country's highest temperature of 34.5 degrees Celsius was recorded in Rajshahi and the lowest of 23.4 degrees in Dighinala.
The highest rainfall of 100 mm was recorded at Dimla in Nilphamari.
The Met Office forecast that light to moderate rain might occur in most places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Dhaka divisions today (Monday) .
The sun sets in the city today (Monday) at 06:24 pm and will rise tomorrow (Tuesday) at 05:37am.
