Meril Media Cup football kicks off August 10

The Meril Media Cup Football Tournament, organised by the Bangladesh Sports Journalists' Association (BSJA) and sponsored by Square Toiletries Ltd, begins on August 10 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) in the city, reports UNB.
Square Toiletries is sponsoring the tournament for the fifth time in which all the media people, including reporters, sub-editors, photographers and cameramen, will be able to participate.
Twenty-four media houses have so far made their entries in the seven-a-side meet. Interested teams have time until Tuesday to enroll their names.
The participating teams have been split into eight groups and the respective group champions will directly play the quarterfinals after their league basis competition in the first phase.
Each team will consist of 10 players in addition to a manager and a coach. The duration of each match is 30 minutes.
Tournament Committee Secretary Raihan Mahmud disclosed the details at a press conference at the National Sports Council (NSC) conference room Monday afternoon.
Among others, Managing Director (MD) of Square Toiletries Ltd Anjan Chowdhury Pintu, BSJA President Manjurul Huq, General Secretary Syed Mamun and Tournament Committee President Kamalur Rahman were present at the press conference.
