Metro rail service to begin 30 min early every Friday
FE REPORT | Friday, 17 January 2025
From now on metro rail service will be available half an hour early every Friday, which the sources say will help support the high demand of passengers, but will reduce time for operations and management works necessary in providing the transportation service.
The first train of the Uttara North station can be on boarded at 3:00 pm, while from Motijheel station, the schedule for the first train has been set at 3:20 pm, according to the revised time table.
The last train from Uttara North station will start at 9pm and the last boarding time from Motijheel station has been set at 9:40 pm.
Single journey ticket sales, rapid pass registration, and top-up from Uttara North and Motijheel stations will
start at 2:45 pm and 3:05 pm respectively, according Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL).
In a response to a letter of Road Transport and Highways Division, DMTCL rescheduled the operation time and mentioned challenges in managing operations, manpower and maintenance.
Sources said that reduced time will affect the operations of MRT trains and maintenance work, which is urgent for smooth train operations.
