MGHS celebrates 160 years of founding

MAGURA, Jan 3 (BSS): Magura Government High School (MGHS), a renowned educational institution of the district, has celebrated its 160 years of founding Friday with much enthusiasm and festivity.
The school, established in 1854, has produced many luminaries in its 160 years academic history including Kali Prashna Roy of Lahore Tribune Newspaper, Sakib -Al-Hassan, an icon cricketer of Bangladesh and Salauddin Lablu, a theater personality.
Thousands of former and present students converged on school premises and brought out a colourful procession which paraded the main streets of the town on the occasion. The former students also planted a banyan tree sapling on the school premises.
The school managing committee also accorded a reception to 55 former teachers of the school on the occasion. As part of the programmes, friendly football match and cultural function were also held. Magura town was illuminated on the occasion. Earlier, Chairman of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Prof. Dr MS Akbar,MP,inaugurated the main programme by hoisting national flag at the school premises.
