Microfinance confce begins in city Saturday

A 2-day national conference on the role of microfinance institutions will begin in Dhaka on Saturday. The conference styled ‘Towards Poverty Alleviation and Social Development: The Role of Microfinance Institutions’ will be held at Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) auditorium in the city. The Institute of Microfinance, PKSF and Micro-credit Regulatory Authority (MRA) are jointly organising the conference that will be attended by micro-credit loan receivers, small entrepreneurs and employees of microfinance organisations. State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroze Chumki and former food minister Dr Abdur Razzak are scheduled to attend three separate sessions on the opening day, to be presided over by PKSF chairman Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad, according to UNB.
