Sunday, 22 May 2011

LONDON, May 21 (UNB): BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia said here Saturday that holding midterm election has now become people's demand in the wake of the government's 'failures' in all fronts. Talking to reporters at Heathrow International Airport before flying for New York concluding her seven day visit in London, she said the government should quit power to hold the polls accepting the public demand to uphold democracy. She flew to New York by Virgin Atlantic Airlines at 10:30 am. Khaleda said they had offered cooperation but the government did not respond to it; rather pushed them to the street for movement. The former Prime Minister said her visit to UK was a 'good will' visit and termed it 'fruitful'. She said she came to London to meet her eldest son Tarique Rahman and daughter-in-law and grand daughter. About her meetings with British politicians, Khaleda said the existing good ties between Dhaka-London will be further enhanced in future. She said she has requested the UK government to increase its cooperation in different fields in Bangladesh. The BNP chief said she will carry out her efforts so democratic trend continues in Bangladesh. Replying to a question, Khaleda said Tarique's health is improving.
