Mid-term polls nothing unusual: Muhith
Thursday, 27 March 2014
Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Thursday said having a mid-term election is nothing unusual saying that it can be held for various reasons and if the situation demands. “…so, no one shall predict I shall stay for five years. But our tenure is a five-year one. This needs to be understood,” Muhith told reporters at the Secretariat after the first pre-budget discussion with leading economists. He made the remark when his explanation was sought about his doubt over the completion of tenure though he announced that the next national budget would be part of the present government’s five-year target. Talking further about snap election, Muhith said, “This is I don’t know. You see. Doesn’t mid-term election take place? It (midterm polls) can be held for many reasons. These reasons may arise in the future.” Though there is no ground like that right now, there may be something like that in the future, he said, adding, “Who knows?”, according to a news agency.
